Frequently Asked Questions
-
Are bio ethanol fires safe for homes?
Yes. Bio‑ethanol fires are safe when used as instructed, Always follow the manufacturers guidelines. Having working smoke and CO alarms is also good practice.
-
Are bio‑ethanol fires suitable for people with lung conditions or sensitivities?
They’re generally fine for most homes, but they do use a little oxygen and release CO₂ and water vapour. If you have a respiratory condition, it’s best to check with your clinician. Always keep the room well‑ventilated and stop using the fire if you notice any discomfort.
-
What if I spilled bio ethanol inside the stove or burner whilst filling?
If any bio ethanol is spilled while filling, do not attempt to light the burner. Wipe up all spilled fuel immediately with an absorbent cloth and make sure the entire area is completely dry. Only ignite the burner once everything has fully dried.
-
How do I extinguish the fire correctly?
Fully close the closing plate and the flame will self extinguish. Don’t blow on it or add water. If it seems to take longer than usual, make sure the plate is closing properly and the burner isn’t overfilled. If the issue continues, contact support.
-
What fuel should I use, gel or bio ethanol?
Only use high‑quality liquid bio‑ethanol with a purity of 96% or higher. This ensures clean burning and proper performance for indoor fireplaces.
-
How much fuel should I add?
Only fill the burner up to the maximum level shown in your manual or marked on the unit. Never overfill, as this can affect performance.
-
Do I need a chimney or a flue?
No these are flueless decorative appliances. Ensure minimum room volume and ventilation stated on the product page/manual.
-
My burner is hard to light or won’t light, what should I check?
If your burner is hard to light, ensure you’re using fresh 96%+ bio‑ethanol fuel, allow any absorbent media to soak for 10–15 minutes, check for drafts, confirm the burner is filled to the max level, and if it still won’t ignite, stop immediately and contact support.
-
How level must the stove be?
The stove needs to be placed very level. An uneven installation can cause one‑sided flames, weaker burning, or difficulty lighting and extinguishing. Using a small spirit level during setup helps ensure proper performance.
-
What run time should I expect?
When filled to the maximum level, you can expect approximately 2.5–8 hours of burn time, depending on the opening setting. Burn times differ by model; please consult the instruction manual.
-
What output (kW) can I expect?
Up to 3kW depending on model.
-
What level of ventilation does the room need?
The air should refresh at least 0.5 times per hour (0.5 ACH). Most rooms naturally achieve this through trickle vents, normal airflow, door gaps, briefly opening a window, or ventilation systems. A room generally has adequate ventilation if it doesn’t feel stuffy, if any odours clear within 30–60 minutes, and if there is no noticeable condensation building up. Opening a door or window from time to time also helps maintain healthy airflow. If none of these issues appear ventilation is adequate.
-
Does a bioethanol stove produce any smell when burning?
A slight odor may be noticeable when lighting or extinguishing, which is normal.
-
Can I place my bioethanol stove on a carpet?
No you should not place a bioethanol stove on a carpet. Bioethanol stoves must always be positioned on a level, hard, and stable surface to ensure safe operation.
