Installation and Maintenance

Gas Fires

The main consideration when choosing a gas fire will be the compatibility with your existing flue provision. Whilst the pictures & information on our website may be of help to you, they are in no way a substitute for having an on site professional survey carried out by a Corgi registered gas installer.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Limestone Products

For general cleaning of limestone, use clean water and a cloth. Make sure the entire section is cleaned and not just a patch as this could result in watermarks being left on the stone.

If you wish to seal the limestone we would recommended Lithofin Stain Stop which gives a greater resistance against staining. This sealant does however alter the appearance of the limestone & dries to a slight sheen. Please be aware when choosing a sealant that some are only suitable for outside use.

Marble and Conglomerates

Use soapy water to wash off dirt or white spirit for sticky marks and harder stains. We would NOT recommend that you use washing up liquid for cleaning this material. If the stain has penetrated into the marble then nothing will remove this.

Household Polish can be used to polish up Marble and conglomerates

Cast Iron

Any cast iron products have the potential to rust easily unless the surface is protected. Regular applications of protective coatings will prevent this. A good example is zebo. Alternatively, it can be lightly oiled with WD40 or other suitable light oil.

Trims and frets

If solid brass, then Brasso or Duraglit is fine, but it is an abrasive.

If not solid brass, (most trims come under this category) A non-abrasive polish such as Peek or any other non-abrasive cleaner.
Note: Some trims and frets are lacquered and don't need polishing with chemicals, simply wipe with a damp cloth and buff up immediately with a dry soft cloth.
